This new year, we're not holding ourselves to some insane standard—we tried that last year and we choked. Usually, changing your entire lifestyle and thought process too abruptly will result in the opposite effect, and then you'll feel down about this “failure”.
Newsflash: Trying to love yourself and create a better world for your mind and body is not a failure—it's one trial out of thousands. With each try, you'll get closer and closer to empathizing with yourself and loving every minute of it.
If one of your New Year's resolutions is to move your body at the gym three times a week but you wake up exhausted on leg day, take a break. Instead, draw yourself a bath, get a massage, or just lie in bed and open a comforting read. Slow and steady wins the race, girl. Everyone says consistency is key, and they're right—but some days, all we need is a little reset before the hustle continues. Nothing wrong with that!

21 Wholesome Self-Love Memes for Wonderful Women Working On Themselves This Year
2024 was a little rough, wasn't it? Keeping up with the journaling, positive affirmations, skincare regimens, and spa days proved to be very difficult. How on earth can women make time for themselves between work, social gatherings, family time, and the like? No one ever said it's easy to take care of ourselves, but little by little, we can work on ourselves and the love we deserve to give ourselves, too.
One of my favorite things to do when I'm feeling down is draw a warm bath, grab a snacky snack, and light one of my favorite candles. Yummy fragrances, such as lavender or eucalyptus, have the potential to soothe the stress of your busy day-to-day schedule. Unwinding after a socially and/or emotionally draining experience is integral to protecting your peace—but self-love is not only about the physical stuff!
Dust off the journal that's been in the back of your desk drawer since last September and just let loose. Write about your day—the good and bad—and you'll be surprised by how noticeably lighter you feel as a result. Self-love is a constant journey. Luckily, you have all the time in the world to see yourself for the amazing woman you are!
In the wise words of RuPaul: "If you don't love yourself, how in the h[eck] you gonna love somebody else?"
